— It's time again for the Spring event of the year at the Five Tribes Museum - get set to see work by some of the finest artisans in the area at their annual Art Under the Oaks show and sale. Outdoor booths, great food and entertainment both Saturday and Sunday. At 11:30 am on Saturday, Debbie Duvall and friend Mike Allen will perform 7 of Debbie's orginal songs. Murv Jacob is perhaps the last artist who has shown at this event every year since its inception. All our latest books, paintings, ceramics, and more!

— The grand old Trail of Tears Art Show opens on Saturday, April 28, with the awards ceremony at 12:00 noon. Murv has entered two illustrations from our upcoming book, now under contract with University of New Mexico Press, entitled "The Well." (Hear the story and view the paintings on this site.) Both are priced to sell at only $1,600 each. "Firing the Pots," shows the Animals at work making pottery to store water as drought descends. "Stealing the Water," is our old friend, Ji-Stu the Rabbit, in disguise! Debbie has entered three of her honeysuckle double-walled Cherokee baskets. Look for the one entitled, "Freedman's Journey," the most intricately woven basket she has ever made.

— Here's a chance to see prototypes of the Oklahoma Centennial commemorative plate that Murv designed for the famed Frankoma Pottery. Two swirling Scissortail Flycathcers (state birds) encircle a branch of the Redbud (state tree) on these collectible plates. Of the three color choices, the green/blue comes in a numbered limited edition with original signatures of Murv Jacob and Crystal Merryman of Frankoma. GOT MATCHING T-SHIRTS !! The Red Fern Festival is the first one, and it celebrates the book and movie about our home town, "Where the Red Fern Grows." Duvall's father, Ralph Dunham, was a consultant on the coon hunting scenes. She's bringing along his hunting pistol and his biggest coon hide! Books, paintings,too!

— This is the highlight of the Cherokee National Holiday, held every Labor Day weekend in Tahlequah, OK, capital of the Cherokee Nation. — Murv and Debbie travel to Connecticut, along with another Oklahoma writer/illustrator team, Tim Tingle and Jeanne Rorex Bridges, to demonstrate their collaborative work at a special event planned by the Mashantucket Pequot Museum. The Pequot is one of the country's most prestigious Native American institutions. Jacob and Duvall and Tingle and Bridges will discuss the many ways they are able to work together to produce their award-winning illustrated storybooks.
